Behavior Support Specialist
Managing behavioral difficulties is consistently identified as the number one problem that teachers face. This certificate addresses this critical need in the field and facilitates advancement by existing school employees.
Schools often move existing employees into behavior support roles that require specialized training. This certificate's coursework develops the skills needed to provide effective behavior support services in school settings. It requires 9 units taken through three sequentially connected courses. The UA started providing this training in 2001; to date, there are few programs outside the UA focused specifically on the school behavioral specialist. Our coursework is also fully online and draws graduate students from across Arizona and beyond, including more than 20 other U.S. states, Bermuda, Canada and Hong Kong.
