Program Details

The Executive Health Systems Leadership (EHSL) DNP prepares you to meet national healthcare needs as the demand for nurses with executive leadership skills grows.

You will develop the advanced competencies necessary to thrive in senior leadership roles, including Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Clinical Nursing Director, Director of Nursing Professional Practice, Director of Quality, strategic program developers, and other leadership initiatives.

At the University of Arizona, we are pioneering a focus on innovation in executive healthcare leadership. Emphasis is placed on health system assessment, creative planning, and leveraging health system resources to achieve optimal organizational outcomes. Through the EHSL DNP specialty, you'll learn to generate and disseminate nursing practice knowledge to stimulate research and improve clinical outcomes, engage in and lead collaborative practice teams, and influence clinical practice transformation and policy initiatives.

  • 1,000 practicum hours supervised by faculty or preceptors on-site
  • Resident Intensive Summer Experience (RISE) in Tucson, Arizona

Eligibility: This program is designed for working professionals holding a master’s degree in nursing, or a related field. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) recognized nursing leadership position.
