Doctor of Nursing Practice

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nursing Education Leadership prepares experienced nurses to become innovative educators and transformative leaders in academic and healthcare settings. Designed for nurses who are passionate about shaping the future of the profession, this specialty combines advanced nursing practice with evidence-based teaching, curriculum development and educational leadership. 

Through a hybrid format that blends online coursework, on-campus intensives and mentored practicum experiences, you'll gain hands-on experience applying what you learn in real-world educational and clinical environments. The curriculum explores topics such as nursing theory, evidence-based practice, informatics, health policy, quality improvement and population health while building expertise in instructional design, competency-based education and learner assessment. 

You'll develop the skills to create engaging learning experiences, implement high-fidelity simulations, coach diverse learners and evaluate educational programs using data-informed strategies. The program also emphasizes leadership development, preparing you to drive innovation and continuous improvement across nursing education and professional development settings. 

Graduates are prepared to pursue leadership roles in academic institutions, healthcare organizations and education-focused industries, including positions such as nursing faculty members, program directors, staff development leaders and directors of simulation and learning. The program also provides eligibility to pursue certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Nursing Professional Development or the National League for Nursing (NLN) as a Certified Nurse Educator.
