The professional graduate certificate in Optical Sciences is designed for working professionals who have already earned a bachelor’s, master's or doctoral degree and wish to supplement their knowledge with formal coursework leading to professional certification. The program provides students with the best graduate-level optics education available and offers the opportunity to build a foundation that can count toward a future Master of Science in Optical Sciences degree. The certificate can be completed entirely by distance learning, entirely on campus or in any combination of the two.

Completion of the Certificate in Optical Sciences requires 15 units of graduate courses in Optical Sciences. You may choose any graduate-level courses that suit your interests from Optical Sciences, except OPTI 597B: Technical Writing and Communication, OPTI 595A: Current Subjects in Optics; or OPTI 589: Optics Outreach.
